We are delighted to share with you an exciting development that exemplifies our commitment to providing our students with meaningful, real-world experiences. We are proud to announce the upcoming opening of our community café, aptly named "The Hub," located on Sandy Lane.
This innovative initiative will be entirely operated by our Key Stage 5 students, offering them a unique opportunity to apply and enhance the skills they develop through the Skillsbuilder programme in a practical setting. The Hub will serve as a platform for our students to demonstrate their growing independence and life skills, while also showcasing their employability within the hospitality sector.
The establishment of The Hub aligns perfectly with our school's ethos of preparing our students for life beyond the classroom. By engaging in this hands-on experience, our students will develop crucial skills such as customer service, time management, teamwork, and financial literacy. These competencies are invaluable as they progress towards adulthood and future employment opportunities.
We recognise the importance of a gradual and well-planned launch for this endeavour. Therefore, we have scheduled a series of trial days and special events throughout June and July. These initial openings will be exclusively for friends and families of West Lancashire Community High School. This approach will allow our students to acclimate to their new roles in a supportive environment, building their confidence and refining their skills before we welcome the wider community.
Following these trial runs, we are planning for the official grand opening of The Hub in September. This milestone will mark the beginning of regular operations, where our students will have the opportunity to serve and interact with members of the local community.
We believe that The Hub will not only benefit our students but will also strengthen our ties with the local community. It will provide a welcoming space for people to gather, enjoy refreshments, and witness first-hand the capabilities and potential of our exceptional students.
As we approach this exciting new chapter for our school, I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our inspiring students who continue to amaze us with their enthusiasm and willingness to embrace new challenges.
We look forward to sharing more details about The Hub's trial days and the official opening as we progress. Your support and encouragement, as always, are greatly appreciated as we embark on this new venture.
